Candytuft Seeds 6390
Candytuft Seeds 6390. Compact, low spreading plants produce a white carpet of bloom through late spring and early summer. The flowers are so profuse, even the rich green foliage is almost hidden. Candytuft is an evergreen perennial in milder winter areas. It will become woody with age with individual plants growing 15-30 cm (6-12") tall and 25-40 cm (10-16") wide. We suggest shearing immediately after flowering to promote compactness. Shearing will also improve bloom density the following spring. Hardy to Zone 3 (when sheltered).
How to Grow
350 seed/gram. Sow directly outdoors after danger of frost or start indoors in a soil-less mix at 21 C (70 F) eight weeks early. Germination takes 10-15 days. Grow-on under lights at a much cooler temperature of 12 C (50 F). After hardening off, transplant to a sunny site in the garden spacing plants 15-20 cm (6-8") apart.
