Catchfly Seeds 6885 (Silene armeria). While not native to Canada, Catchfly has naturalized throughout much of North America. This hardy plant produces clusters of large, globe-shaped, deep rose-pink blooms on long stems. Very hardy in poor soils and performs well under extreme heat. Garden height averages 60 cm (24") tall. This perennial makes a wonderful cut flower and while it is described as being hardy in Zones 3-8, in Zones 3-4, this plant is often grown as a self seeding annual.

How To Grow

7,800 seed/gram. Another easy to grow wildflower that starts very easily from direct garden sowing in early May or late fall. Indoors, sow seed in late March in a soil-less mix and keep at 20 C (70 F) for the 10 to 15 day germination period. After germination grow on under lights at a slightly cooler temperature then harden off and transplant outside to a sunny location. Super for spots with poor or drought prone soils.
