Catmint Seeds (Nepata mussinii) 6400
Catmint Seeds (Nepeta mussinii) 6400. Catmint forms a low growing mound topped by 30 cm (12"") high flower spikes. Individual plants can spread to 40 cm (15"") across. This perennial is very easy to grow from seed and if it is started early enough, it will flower in the first year of growth. Like its relative Catnip, Catmint will attract cats. This plant can be aggressive so many gardeners confine this plant with some form of edging. Hardy to Zone 4.
How to Grow
1000 seed/gram. For flowering in the first year, start seed indoors in a soil-less mix in February. Barely cover seed and keep at 20 C (70 F) for the roughly 10 day germination period. Grow on under lights at a slightly cooler temperature before hardening off and transplanting outside to a sunny site after the danger of frost has passed. Seed can also be directly sown in the garden in late April and early May. Space plants 25 cm (10"") apart in the garden. Does best in full sun but will tolerate some shade. Hardy to Zone 4
