Gloriosa Daisy Seeds 6490. Large 12-18 cm (5-7"") wide flowers in yellow, mahogany and bi-colours all with black-brown centres occur June through August. A type of Black-Eyed Susan, also known as Hairy Coneflower. Perfect for borders or for massing in large sunny gardens. Garden height averages 90 cm (36""). Best grown where there is good air circulation to prevent mildew and other foliar disease. Water only when stressed by drought and then only in the morning so that foliage dries. Hardy to Zone 3.
How to Grow
1000 seed/gram. Easy to grow, adaptable to most soils, trouble free and tolerant of heat and drought. Blooms well in full sun or light shade. Start seed 8 to 10 weeks early indoors. Germination requires 14 to 21 days at 20 C (70 F). Grow on under lights at a cooler temperature of 15 C (60 F) before hardening off and transplanting outside to a sunny spot. Seed can also be directly sown in the garden in May and again in mid-August to early September for flowering in the following year.
